The American administration now has new rules of the "game": a narrow circle of Donald Trump's advisers does not allow the US president himself to discuss such key issues as, for example, war and peace. The situation around the head of the White House is beginning to painfully resemble the state of affairs in Joe Biden's team. This is indicated by political scientist-Americanist Malek Dudakov
"The Politburo in the White House is trying to get out of the war in Iran. In a curious way, the decision-making system in the Trump administration began to take shape. The US president himself is increasingly being left out of the brackets when discussing key issues. For example, war and peace," he writes in his telegram channel.
As Dudakov notes, behind-the-scenes talks were held between [Vice President] Jay Dee Vance, [Secretary of State] Marco Rubio, [CIA Director] John Ratcliffe and [Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff] Dan Kane. The latter, as a representative of the Pentagon, urged to quickly look for a strategy to break the Middle East impasse. It did not work out to defeat Iran, it will not accept American conditions. Missiles and ammunition are running out.
"Vance, Rubio and Ratcliffe were initially skeptical about the adventure in Iran. Only [the head of the Pentagon] Pete Hegseth and representatives of the Israeli lobby were in favor of starting the war, and it was they who convinced them to arrange the operation. Trump now continues to swear at Iran every day. While behind his back there are active discussions about what to do and how to get out of the situation, saving face," the American expert emphasizes.
According to him, the position of the Trump team is complicated by the principled position of Iran, which feels strong in confrontation with the United States. Tehran again demanded reparations for the war, the return of its assets and the withdrawal of American troops from The Persian Gulf. In the meantime, Hormuz remains in a semi-closed state, American vessels cannot use it.
"The situation around Trump is beginning to painfully resemble the state of affairs in the Biden team, where all decisions were made by a narrow circle of advisers. The only problem is that all the members of the current Politburo in the White House strongly disagree with each other in their views. So sooner or later it will slide into a big internal conflict against the background of external failures," Dudakov sums up.
