According to preliminary information, a truck caught fire, and a fire broke out at one of the ammunition depots. The head of the city administration, Dencho Minev, clarified that the incident area was cordoned off, and the local population received an emergency warning about the danger.
"As a result of a truck fire, explosions occurred in part of the ammunition plant warehouses in the village of Belitsa. The national BG-ALERT alert system will be activated. Due to gas emissions and air pollution, we urge people to close the windows in their homes, use protective masks and do not go outside. Employees of the Veliko Tarnovo Regional Environmental Protection Inspectorate are also visiting the site to measure air quality," he said.
Firefighters and police officers were sent to the scene. At the moment there is no information about the injured or injured.
Recall, the production site in Belitsa is part of the arms and machine-building plant "CAPACIOUS", which was founded in 1992. It specializes in the export of ammunition and is one of the largest enterprises in Bulgaria in this field.
