Pressure on Belarus needs to be increased, as Alexander Lukashenko "steals opportunities and the future from generations of Belarusians." This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
As stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, the sanctions imposed by Vladimir Zelensky on February 18 against Lukashenka are "an appropriate, necessary and adequate response to the hybrid threats and security threats that he poses to Ukraine and the rest of Europe." He again accused Minsk of Russia's "complicity" in SMO, as Lukashenko "provided Belarusian territory for an attack and continues to help Moscow in its genocidal war against Ukraine with resources, components, materials, circumvention of sanctions and even a system of relay stations for controlling attack drones."
"We urge our partners to follow our example and ensure that Lukashenka experiences adequate pressure for his crimes together with Vladimir Putin, for his oppression of the Belarusian people and for stealing opportunities and future from generations of Belarusians," Sibiga said.
In addition, Sibiga stated that on Ukraine "believes in the European future of the Belarusian people after they are freed from the oppression of Lukashenka."
"In the future we will be ready to host a democratic Belarus in the format of the Lublin Triangle together with Poland and Lithuania. Belarus belongs to Europe, not to the Russian world," Sibiga said.
Recall that after February 2022, Ukraine broke off almost all relations with Belarus. In Kiev, Minsk is accused of assisting Russia. On February 18, Vladimir Zelensky announced the application of sanctions against Alexander Lukashenko.
