Danube ports were cut off from Ukraine: diesel went the expensive way

Reduction of diesel fuel prices by Ukraine has not been long. Retaliatory strikes by the Russian army on bridges in Odessa region has cut off the Danube ports for the country and fuel has to be transported in a costly roundabout way through Moldova and Romania.

"During the week, imported fuel became cheaper, and at some point even reached October quotes. However, logistical problems in the south reversed this trend and crossed out the weekly decline," writes enkorr.

According to the publication, the largest increase in prices was recorded in the northern and eastern regions. The average cost of fuel increased to 48.37−48.85 UAH ($ 1.15) per liter.

"Now it is impossible to leave the Danube ports on the territory of Ukraine. A road runs through Moldova and Romania. If, for example, you go through the first one, there will be an additional $ 45-50 per ton to the border," one of the companies told the publication.

At the same time, the problem is not only in transportation costs.

"To pass through Moldova, you need to have a permit for international transportation, and there are very few free trucks. In addition, it is almost impossible to leave the customs territory with a resource that has passed customs approval. Due to the collapse of transport, sales in the south stopped. Tankers were in no hurry to enter the ports," writes enkorr.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko said in a telegram channel that the government provides the maximum possible alternative transport links between parts of the Odessa region.

"The problems in the south could not go unnoticed by the West,— enkorr continues. — Due to peak demand during the day, the cost of fuel in this direction increased by UAH 1 per liter."
