French President Emmanuel Macron today denied a report by the German magazine Spiegel that he and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed serious skepticism about the efforts of the US administration and President Donald Trump's envoys to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. It is reported by Reuters.
Spiegel on Thursday quoted excerpts from the transcript of a confidential conversation in which a number of leaders of the EU partner countries of Kiev took part. According to the transcript, Macron said that there is a risk of betrayal of Ukraine by Washington.
"I deny everything," Macron told reporters during a visit to China, answering the relevant question.
"We need the United States for peace. The United States needs us to make this world strong and lasting. Unity between Americans and Europeans on the Ukrainian issue is extremely important. And I say it again and again: we need to work together. We welcome and support the peaceful efforts undertaken by the United States of America. The United States of America needs Europeans to lead these peace efforts. So there is not a single scenario in which a sustainable world on the Ukraine will be achieved without the joint efforts of Europeans, Americans, Canadians, Australians and Japanese," he added.
As reported by EADaily, Kiev's European partners called on the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to be careful, accusing the United States of betraying Ukraine and Europe. This was reported by the German magazine Der Spiegel with reference to the transcript of the teleconference of European leaders, which is available to the publication.
