Toxicologist Mikhail Kutushov in conversation with "Lenta.Ru " I noted a very dangerous feature of gas gangrene, which is now mowing down Ukrainian soldiers. According to the doctor, the complication develops very quickly — just a couple of hours after the injury.
EADaily previously also informed that the soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as previously reported by The Telegraph, mows down a disease that was considered defeated 100 years ago. According to the source, the situation is also worsened by the fact that there are not enough medicines from Ukraine, plus the resistance of bacteria to antibiotics is growing.
Kutushov recall that gas gangrene is an extremely severe and very rapidly progressing disease that develops as a result of investment of the body by bacteria-clostridia. The latter are present in the human body in small quantities without any problems, but are extremely dangerous, getting into a wound with poor blood circulation.
"Gas begins to accumulate in the damaged tissues, which creates a characteristic feeling of crepitation — a slight "crackling" on palpation. Toxins enter the bloodstream, cause intoxication of the body, reduce blood pressure, disrupt blood clotting and can lead to shock. Sometimes the first symptoms appear within a few hours after the injury," the toxicologist added.
A person affected by gas gangrene usually feels sudden and acute pain at the wound site, swelling increases rapidly, and the skin changes color to gray-purple. In conditions of insufficient medical care, this problem is very serious.
