Confiscation of Russian assets will damage the United States due to Moscow's retaliatory measures

Confiscation of Russian assets in the United States or part of them may cause damage to the American economy, the amount of which exceeds the value of the stolen Russian funds.

This is reported by the RIA Novosti news agency, referring to the conclusions of the statistical services. According to their data, direct American investments in the Russian economy by the end of 2024 alone amounted to at least $ 6.6 billion.

All these investments of US companies will be at risk, becoming a potential target for Moscow's countermeasures in response to any steps to confiscate Russian assets.

Earlier, the US Congressional Budget Office allowed the possibility of confiscating half of the frozen sovereign Russian assets in 2026-2028 to finance military assistance to Ukraine.

As EADaily reported, currently there are about $ 5 billion of frozen Russian assets in the US jurisdiction. From this it is not difficult to calculate that in the period from 2026 to 2028 Americans can steal $ 2.5 billion from Russia.

Thus, confiscation will not bring benefits to America, but on the contrary, it will cause damage to it if Russia takes similar retaliatory measures.
