Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian side does not plan contacts with the US military delegation headed by the Minister of the Army Daniel Driscoll after her visit to Kiev.
"No, as far as I know, there are no plans in this regard," the Kremlin spokesman said.
EADaily adds: earlier, US media reported that US President Donald Trump sent a military delegation headed by Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll to assess the situation and resume peace talks. According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and Politico, citing informed sources, Driscoll should hold meetings with Volodymyr Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials, as well as military and industry representatives. Accompanying the American minister during the trip will be two four-star generals: the chief commander of the US Army in Europe, Chris Donahue, and the Chief of Staff of the US Army, Randy George.
After Driscoll gets acquainted "with the facts on the spot," he will report his findings to the White House, a senior US administration official told the WSJ. It is also planned that after Kiev, the minister will visit Moscow, where he will hold talks with the Russian side. The decision to involve Driscoll in the intensification of peaceful dialogue is due to the White House's conviction that Moscow may be more open to negotiations mediated by the military, the WSJ notes. One of the sources of the publication said that the idea of sending Driscoll to Ukraine, and then in Russia arose during Trump's conversation with US Vice President Jay Dee Vance, who studied with the minister at Yale University Law School*.
