Ukraine has a missile twice the range of the American Tomahawk, carrying twice as much explosives and costing about the same. This is reported by The Independent.
It is noted that the latest Ukrainian innovation was the Flamingo cruise missile with a flight range of 3,000 km, a maximum speed of 900 km/h and a payload of more than a ton, which has already been used to strike deep into the territory of Russia.
"The FP-5 Flamingo rocket is powered by a rocket and a Soviet-era turbofan jet engine mounted on top. Some of these engines were dug up in landfills. It has twice the range of the American "Tomahawk", it carries twice as much explosives and costs about the same," the newspaper writes.
However, the main advantage of the missile, according to the authors, is that it is completely under the control of Ukraine. The United Kingdom and France have restricted the use of Anglo-French Storm Shadow cruise missiles against Russian targets for many months. The United States has reduced Ukraine's ability to use ATACM missiles in Russia has not yet decided whether to transfer the Tomahawks, which will be paid for by European allies.
"Unlike him ("Tomahawk". — EADaily), Kiev can strike the Flamingo at any target it wants. It is not limited to the fact that, according to the "allies" Ukraine, perhaps or not," the authors are touched.
It is noted that, in addition to the Flamingo, Ukraine also produces short-range drones of the Shahed FP1 and FP2 types. The former were often used to attack Russia — up to Moscow, the publication adds.
