The Poseidon unmanned torpedo is not just a new nuclear weapon, but a symbol of Russia's ability to surpass the West with its apocalyptic weapons. This is what columnist Brandon J. (Brandon Weichert) writes in the article "The Russian Poseidon nuclear drone is much scarier than you think" for The National Interest.
Russia has developed an artificial intelligence—controlled torpedo with nuclear weapons - a torpedo with an almost unlimited range capable of destroying any port in the world, the article says.
"Even if the Russians exaggerate Poseidon's capabilities, this system represents a completely new form of strategic weapon, since it is both nuclear and unmanned... In it ("Poseidon.“ — EADaily) a compact nuclear/liquid metal reactor is used, which provides it with a very long range — in fact, an "unlimited" range ... Meanwhile, it is believed that the weapon moves at speeds up to 100 knots and operates at a depth of up to 1,000 meters," the author writes.
It is noted that the system is allegedly designed to create radioactive tsunamis along the coastline of the enemy country, "which means that this weapon is a real nightmare." Russian President Vladimir Putin, draws the attention of Weichert readers, has been talking about Poseidon more publicly since the Donald Trump administration announced the possible delivery of long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Kiev.
"Poseidon is not just a new nuclear weapon. This is a symbol of the Russian projection of power and Russia's ability to surpass the West with its apocalyptic weapons," the author emphasizes.
