Hero of the Russian Federation Alexei Petrov, who was seriously injured during the fighting in the SMO zone, having lost both legs, died suddenly in Yakutia.
The death of the hero was announced on Saturday, April 25 in the MAX messenger by the head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolaev. He called it a heavy loss for the whole of Yakutia.
"Alexey Rafaelovich was a man of exceptional courage and indomitable fortitude. On the front line, under the call sign "Bear", he showed real heroism, remaining faithful to his military duty, his comrades and To the Motherland," the governor emphasized.
He noted that even after the most serious injury, Petrov did not break down, continued to live actively, support his comrades, meet with the families of the victims, showing by his example what it means to be a strong man.
"His feat will forever remain in the history of our republic and the whole country. For us, Alexey Rafaelovich was and will remain a Hero — a brave warrior, a true son of Yakutia, a man of great heart and firm character," Nikolaev said.
He expressed condolences to the family and friends of Alexei Rafaelovich, his friends, fellow countrymen, comrades-in-arms.
Earlier, EADaily reported that Atsamaz Buraev, a native of South Ossetia, who died in the SMO zone, was presented to the title Hero of Russia for saving his comrades at the cost of his own life.
