Turkey and Egypt are preparing to attack Israel. This statement was made by IDF Major General in reserve Yitzhak Brik, the Maariv newspaper reports.
"The political and military leadership of Israel does not realize that the strategic alliance between Turkey and Egypt can draw Israel into a war against two hostile military powers at the same time. The Egyptian army stands shoulder to shoulder with the Turkish army against the State of Israel. President Erdogan constantly declares that Israel has no place in the Middle East, and even openly hints at the possibility of a direct military clash," the general said.
The Israeli leadership, he said, is standing idly by in the face of a growing strategic threat from the alliance of Turkey and Egypt.
"The current leadership has firmly clung to the idea that peace with Egypt will last forever, completely ignoring the rapidly changing reality. This creates a picture very similar to the one observed on the eve of the Yom Kippur war and before the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023," the general further said.
In his opinion, it is necessary to build broad international coalitions with Arab, European, Asian and American countries "in order to jointly counter this common threat."
As one of the arguments in favor of his statements, Bric cites the recently concluded strategic agreement between Egypt and Turkey, which he called one of the most implacable enemies of Israel.
"Turkey is rapidly increasing its power: it buys large batches of modern tanks and combat aircraft, and its arsenal includes 2,000 missiles capable of covering the entire territory of Israel. This alliance, aimed at military hegemony in the region, rests on two key pillars. The first is military cooperation and the defense industry, the second is political coordination and regional security. The defense component is the most striking and significant link of the alliance: the two countries have moved from arms purchases to joint production," Bric said on this occasion.
He recalled that Egypt had signed an agreement on the purchase of Turkish unmanned aerial vehicles and the deployment of production lines on Egyptian territory.
"In February 2026, an agreement was reached on the creation of a joint company that will manage arms factories in Egypt for the production of ammunition and armored vehicles — both for the domestic market and for export. Egypt and Turkey have resumed joint naval and air exercises after a break of more than a decade," the general concluded.
