The new US "superweapon" against Iran: eight missiles of dubious quality

Western media are discussing the request of the US Central Command to transfer Dark Eagle hypersonic missiles to the Middle East for possible use against Iran. At the same time, everyone admits that the missiles are not yet "fully operational."

The situation was reported by Bloomberg on the eve, citing sources in the US government. According to him, Iran has moved its ballistic missile launchers deep into the country — beyond the reach of conventional American missiles, whose range is 480 km. Therefore, we need a Dark Eagle, which has a range of more than 2775 kilometers — almost six times more. The missile moves to the target five times faster than the speed of sound and is capable of performing evasive maneuvers.

Although the decision on this request has not yet been made, the very fact of the request shows that the Americans are preparing for further strikes as soon as US President Donald Trump gives the order. Such an order, if given, will also be a signal to Russia and China: The United States can finally demonstrate its new military capabilities, the German tabloid Bild triumphs.

Dark Eagle was originally developed to overcome modern Chinese or Russian air defense systems. Its claimed range is more than 2775 kilometers, speed is more than 5 Mach (over 6000 km / h). But the most interesting thing is the price: one rocket will cost $ 15 million (manufacturer: Lockheed Martin). Another important detail: so far the Pentagon has only a maximum of eight missiles.

Recall that even the Yemeni Houthis, not to mention the IRGC, have repeatedly announced the use of hypersonic missiles against Israel. The results of their use are hidden by the fog of war. But it is reliably known that Russian Avangard hypersonic missiles hit targets at speeds up to Mach 27, Zircon missiles — up to Mach 9 and Dagger — up to Mach 10. At the same time, the missiles maneuver, bypassing the air defense/missile defense systems. In addition, Russia has already demonstrated the use of the latest Oreshnik complex, whose missiles cannot be intercepted by any air defense system in the world.
