The Ukrainian drone found in the Finnish city of Kouvola turned out to be not "Fierce". This was stated to Yle by the Central Criminal Police of Finland (KRP).
Initially, the Finnish Air Force assumed that it was a Ukrainian drone AN-196 ("Fierce". — EADaily), however, technical expertise refuted this. The exact model of the drone has not yet been established.
"According to KRP representative Risto Lohi, the found devices turned out to be significantly smaller than previously thought and contain fewer explosives. At the same time, he noted that all drones found in the country, according to current estimates, are of Ukrainian origin," Rulehti writes.
In total, four drones were detected in Finland at the end of March — beginning of April — in the areas of Kouvola, Luumaki, near the eastern border and in Iitty.
As EADaily reported, flying drones with explosives into Finland is a serious signal of problems in the country's surveillance system. This was stated in an interview with Helsingin Sanomat by the head of the National Defense unit, Brigadier General Markku Viitasaari. Such a situation cannot be considered normal, he noted.
As reported by EADaily, earlier Finnish Defense Minister Antti Hyakkianen said that several drones flew into the country. Prime Minister Petteri Orpo called the incident a violation of territorial integrity and noted that in connection with the incident, the issue of convening a meeting of President Alexander Stubb and the government is being considered.
The representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Georgy Tikhy, said that Kiev apologized to Helsinki for the Ukrainian drones that fell on the territory of the country.
