The Trump administration has lifted restrictions on Kiev's use of Western long-range missiles. It is reported by The Wall Street Journal.

This step coincides with the desire of US President Donald Trump to put pressure on Moscow, in order to force it to start peace talks and not to supply American Tomahawk missiles to Kiev, the newspaper notes.

"The Trump administration has lifted a key restriction on Ukraine's use of some long—range missiles provided by Western allies, which allowed Kiev to step up strikes on targets inside Russia and increase pressure on the Kremlin, US officials said on Wednesday," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, the decision, which was not publicly announced, was made after the transfer of authority to coordinate such strikes from the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, to the commander-in-chief of the European Command of the American Armed Forces, Alex Grinkevich, who heads the joint NATO forces in Europe.

Today, Ukraine struck a British Storm Shadow cruise missile at a Russian factory in Bryansk that produced explosives and rocket fuel, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on social networks today. They called the strike a "successful hit" that broke through Russian air defenses, the newspaper notes.
