While the USA and The European Union is discussing new sanctions against Russia and pressure on India and China, Indian refineries have requested higher discounts on spot shipments from Russian oil suppliers. They warned that they could send them to China.
"Indian importers of Russian oil are seeking large discounts from Russian sellers due to the growth of potential risks associated with participation in the deal," Reuters reports citing traders.
According to them, buyers from India are offering to increase the discount from $ 2-3 per barrel immediately to $ 10.
"Some Russian sellers responded by saying that Indian buyers were asking for too much of a discount and said they would send part of the October spot shipments to China, which would lead to a slight decrease in shipments to India," the agency writes.
His interlocutors explained that in October, Russian oil supplies to India from Russia will be 1.4 million barrels per day, which is 200 thousand barrels below the September level.
"The final volumes for October will become clearer after the completion of negotiations between buyers and sellers over the next two weeks," the sources added to Reuters.
The Agency noted that regardless of the outcome, October oil supplies in most cases will be carried out in excess of the established EU price limit, since even a discount of $ 10 per barrel will not reduce the price of Russian oil to $ 47.60 per barrel.
As EADaily reported, the United States imposed additional 25 percent duties on Indian goods for its import of Russian oil. At the same time, Delhi refused to give in to Washington's demands to abandon purchases and said that it was not about them. Now Donald Trump offers countries The EU will impose 100% duties on goods from India and China for Russian oil, but so far Brussels is ready to go only to some restrictions on certain Chinese refineries.
