Armenia would rather withdraw from the CSTO than unfreeze its participation in the organization, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a press conference on July 16.
"It is more likely that we will withdraw from the CSTO than that we will unblock our membership in this organization," he said.
Yerevan is striving to obtain full membership in the European Union, however, as Pashinyan noted, this process is difficult for any country.
"During discussions with European colleagues, we were asked whether the adopted law means that Armenia wants to become a member of the EU. My answer is yes, Armenia wants to become a member of the EU. Both our European colleagues and we have stated that EU membership is not an easy process for any country. First of all, all countries are for this The EU must agree. And it is also important that the candidate country meets the standards of the European Union," the Armenian Prime Minister said.
Armenia froze its participation in the CSTO a year ago, and in March 2025 it stopped financing the organization.
