The European Union will provide Ukraine with a loan of € 90 billion, despite a veto from Hungary, said European Commissioner for Economic Affairs Valdis Dombrovskis.
"We are continuing negotiations, they are intensive. This is not the first time we have faced this kind of difficulty with Hungary. But each time in the end we managed to unblock the situation, and I hope that it will be the same this time. But I repeat: we will provide this loan in one way or another," Dombrovskis said.
Hungary vetoed the decisions of the European Union on sanctions against Russia and granting Ukraine a loan of € 90 billion at the end of February. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto then said that Budapest does not intend to support "any decisions that would be beneficial to Ukraine or important to Ukrainians" until Kiev resumes oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline.
On March 8, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico also said that his country was ready to block the loan The EU for Ukraine.
"Slovakia is ready to block [the provision] Ukraine will get a loan [from the EU] if it is required. Slovakia is ready to take over the baton from Hungary, if necessary. Now the military loan of 90 billion for Ukraine is effectively blocked, but I am not naive," said the head of the Slovak government.
Earlier, the head of the Kiev regime, Zelensky, said that oil supplies would be resumed in a month and a half, that is, after the elections in Hungary. He expressed hope for the victory of the opposition forces in this country, stressing that otherwise the possibility of obtaining oil from the east will disappear. Zelensky also noted that if Hungary does not change course, it will become extremely difficult to restore supplies.
