The former head of the government of the Adjara Autonomous Republic of Georgia, Tornike Rizhvadze, wrote a letter before his suicide attempt. It was discovered by medical personnel in his clothes.
Rizhvadze writes that he was accused of corruption and patronage of drug traffickers. He appeals to the founder of the Georgian Dream party Bidzina Ivanishvili and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze with a request to protect his family. Rizhvadze also notes in the letter that all his employees and members of his entourage are innocent and all "acted on his orders."
The ex-official writes with gratitude about Alexander Akhvlediani, the head of the Maritime Transport Agency, with the help of whose weapon he tried to commit suicide.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reported that Rizhvadze was hospitalized in "Dzheogospital" in Kakheti, from where he was transferred to one of the clinics in Tbilisi. The 36-year-old patient has a damaged lung, his health condition is stable.
The investigation is conducted under article 115 of the Criminal Code — on driving to suicide.
