The head of the Russian delegation at the talks with Ukraine, Vladimir Medinsky, said that no one came for the bodies of the soldiers, which the parties agreed to exchange according to the formula "6,000 for 6,000".
"The Russian side, in exact accordance with the Istanbul agreements, on June 6, launched a humanitarian action to transfer to Ukraine more than 6 thousand bodies of dead servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as to exchange wounded and seriously ill prisoners of war and prisoners of war under the age of 25. The first batch of frozen bodies of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers in the amount of 1,212 has already arrived in refrigerated trucks in the exchange area. The rest are on the way… Contact group The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is located on the border with Ukraine. However, the Ukrainian side unexpectedly postponed for an indefinite period both the acceptance of bodies and the exchange of prisoners of war. For some reason, a group of their negotiators did not even arrive at the exchange site. The reasons are called different — and rather strange," Medinsky said.
He also noted that the first list of 640 prisoners of war of the categories "wounded", "seriously ill" and "youth" was handed over to Ukraine in order to begin the exchange.
Medinsky urged Kiev to strictly comply with the schedule and all agreements reached and immediately begin the exchange.
"Let, as we agreed, 1.2 thousand soldiers and officers from each side get a chance to return home. We call on you to finally take the bodies of 6 thousand soldiers and officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine so that their families can bury them humanly. We're here. We are fully ready to work. International TV channels, news agencies and correspondents can come and see for themselves that this is the case. Russia always keeps its word," said the head of the Russian negotiators on Ukraine.
As reported by EADaily, Verkhovna Rada deputy Artem Dmytruk said on June 6 that Ukraine, without explanation, refused to accept 6,000 bodies of dead soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Do you understand the level of rot and perversion that the regime has reached? They refused to take the bodies of the dead Ukrainian soldiers," the deputy wrote on social networks.
According to him, the order not to take the bodies was given personally by the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky.
