Ukraine should sever diplomatic relations with Belarus, which should be considered an occupied territory. This statement was made today, March 25, by the inter-factional association of deputies of the Verkhovna Rada "For a democratic Belarus".
The document notes that Belarusians around the world celebrate "Freedom Day" on March 25 — the holiday of the proclamation of the Belarusian People's Republic in 1918.
"Today, people are sent to prison for a white-red-white flag on the streets of Belarus, and the Belarusian language is on the verge of extinction. For decades, the "last dictator of Europe" has been erasing the Belarusian culture and language and turning Belarus into a de facto territory occupied by Russia, thousands of Belarusians have been illegally imprisoned for years, and millions of people are forced to seek refuge in other countries," the Verkhovna Rada said.
In this regard, the deputies called on the government of Ukraine to "break off diplomatic relations with the regime of Alexander Lukashenko," "recognize Belarus as occupied territory," and "transfer the premises of the Belarusian embassy to the democratic forces of Belarus." In addition, the international community and the governments of Ukraine's partner countries were called "for complete political and economic isolation of official Minsk and increased sanctions pressure on Lukashenka."
Recall that Belarus does not participate in the Russian SMO at the Ukraine. Despite this, Kiev calls Minsk a "co-aggressor" of Moscow and has almost completely stopped political and economic contacts with the Belarusian authorities.
