Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Turchin signed a decree on the closure of the embassy in Finland. The document is published on the national legal portal of the republic.
According to the document, the embassy will be closed from September 1, 2026. The reasons for this decision are not specified.
The Belarusian embassy in Finland was opened in 2011, its mandate also extended to Denmark. However, since 2024 there has been no ambassador of Belarus in Helsinki. On July 3, 2026, the embassy's website published a message about the temporary suspension of work and suggested contacting other foreign institutions for consular issues, in particular, the Consulate General of Belarus in Daugavpils (Latvia) or the Embassy in Stockholm (Sweden). At the same time, Finland does not have an embassy in Minsk, but a representative office of the Finnish Foreign Ministry operates there.
