Among Ukrainians who received refugee status in the UK, 41% could not find a job due to uncertainty after the expiration of three-year visas. Another 22% lost their jobs for the same reason, The Telegraph reported on March 22, citing survey data.
It is specified that because of this, 24% of refugees cannot extend their rental housing. At the same time, more than half of the internally displaced persons (58%) have dependent children of school age.
At the same time, the overwhelming majority (94%) of refugees plan to extend their visa and continue to stay in the UK. And 68% would like to stay in the country even after the end of the conflict on Ukraine.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation (SMO), about 250 thousand Ukrainians have received refugee status in the UK.
On March 21, the media learned about London's plans to send asylum-seeking migrants to the Balkans. It is specified that for this purpose the British ministers intend to appeal to the Balkan countries, including Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Northern Macedonia. When implementing the scheme, London will be forced to pay the host party for each resettled person.
