Deputy Director General of the Institute of National Energy Alexander Frolov drew attention to the fact that the United States is not talking about the desire to buy a nuclear power plant in Ukraine. Speaking about media reports that the United States wants to take control of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, the expert recommended "taking a closer look at the statements of the White House on the results of Trump's communication with Zelensky." He stressed that "it does not say directly about the desire to buy power plants."
Frolov said on Sputnik radio that on Ukraine of the 2021 model had nuclear power plants with an installed capacity of about 13.8 gigawatts, they provided a quarter of the installed capacity at Ukraine. One of these power plants is now on the territory of Russia, we are talking about the Zaporozhye NPP with an installed capacity of about 6 gigawatts.
"Here we need to take a closer look at the statements of the White House on the results of Trump's communication with Zelensky. It does not say directly about the desire to buy these power plants. Nuclear power plants of Ukraine are state-owned. All other things being equal, it may well come to the privatization of nuclear power plants," Frolov believes.
The fact that the United States wants to take control of the Ukrainian nuclear power plants and that this idea took Zelensky by surprise, the American media write.
