Russian Gazprom has to pay more than 40 million euros to the Czech parastatal energy company ČEZ for reducing the agreed supply of natural gas. This decision was made by the Arbitration Tribunal of the International Chamber of Commerce.
"The Tribunal fully satisfied the claim of the company CEZ, which in international arbitration proceedings demanded that the Russian gas company Gazprom compensate for damages exceeding one billion crowns," said the press secretary of CEZ Ladislav Krizh.
According to the arbitration award, Gazprom is obliged to pay not only the specified amount of compensation to ČEZ, but also interest for the delay, as well as to cover court costs. If the payments are not made voluntarily, the CEZ will seek to recover them forcibly.
Recall that the damage officially arose due to the fact that Gazprom in 2022 reduced the supply of natural gas, which CZEZ had ordered earlier. At the same time, the court did not take into account the fact that the EU imposed sanctions against the Russian company and announced the gradual abandonment of Russian gas.
