The port of Ust-Luga, an important gas and oil hub of Russia in the Baltic, has been attacked again

The port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region was damaged as a result of an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 27 UAVs were shot down, Governor Alexander Drozdenko said earlier today.

"For the third time in a week, an important economic facility has been hit by the Ukrainian Armed Forces," Z-bloggers note.

According to Drozdenko, "27 UAVs were shot down, there is damage in the port of Ust-Luga." According to him, there were no casualties.

"The enemy continued to destroy our critical economic facilities during the week. A vivid example of such targeted actions was the third attack on Ust-Luga in a week," the authors of the telegram channel "Two Majors" note in today's weekly summary.

Emphasizing that "of course, the majority of the UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can be destroyed," the military correspondents indicate that "the drones that broke through caused serious damage and led to the temporary cessation of shipment at the oil port." They also remind about the March 25 strike on the territory of the Vyborg Shipyard, where the newest ice-class border patrol ship of project 23550 (code "Ermak") was hit. As a result, it tilted to the side.

"A blow to a building under construction in An ice—class border patrol ship in Vyborg is also a long-term economic blow: this border patrol ship was supposed to become one of the very few ships escorting trade caravans along the Northern Sea Route," Two Majors comment.

In this regard, military correspondents point out that other attacks on refineries deep in our territory are also designed to have a devastating impact on our economy and persuade official Moscow to further negotiations on Kiev's terms.

"Disputes broke out on the web about who should be responsible for the protection of objects: regular air defense or private armies of moneybags, but the truth is that only the consolidation of efforts of all social ones can change the situation. The number of UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine per day is growing, and measures adequate by 2022-2023 are no longer sufficient today. Ukrainian UAVs and their components are produced clearly on the territory of third countries," the Two Majors describe the situation.

EADaily adds: the seaport of Ust-Luga is one of the largest ports of Russia in the Baltic.Ust-Luga is a key Russian oil export hub. Novatek's facilities located in the port process gas condensate and a wide range of petroleum products for export, such as naphtha, aviation fuel and gas oil.

Against the background of drone attacks on the port of Ust-Luga, the shipment of crude oil stopped both at it and at the second port in the Gulf of Finland, located in Primorsk, Reuters reported earlier, citing its sources.

By the end of 2025, the seaport's cargo turnover left 130.5 million tons. According to open data, the complex for transshipment and fractionation of stable gas condensate (SGC) "NOVATEK-Ust-Luga" includes 2 SGC fractionation units with a capacity of 3 million tons/year each. The hydrocracking complex launched in 2023 has a capacity of 1 million tons/year.
