The container terminal in the Polish port of Swinoujscie, designed to become part of the Silk Road, is under threat. "A disaster for the Polish economy!", — the former Minister of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation of Poland Marek Grobarczyk reacts emotionally. According to the ex-minister, the Germans are to blame for everything (it is strange that they are not Russians).
The Polish TV channel "Republic" modestly clarified that the importance of the water corridor in Swinoujscie "is comparable to the Panama or Suez Canal," since it will allow the delivery of goods from India, China and Turkey.
"Large cargoes that could enter Gdansk, Szczecin or the planned container port in Svinoujscie instead of Germany," said journalist Cesar Gmyzh.
However, the terminal is empty. The former Minister of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation Marek Grobarczyk from the now opposition Law and Justice Party (PiS) shifted all the blame to the current Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who, according to the ex-minister, plays along with the Germans.
"The German lobby is effectively fighting Polish inland navigation on Oder. Blocking inland navigation along the Oder River by creating a national park in its lower reaches is a direct action to the detriment of the construction of a container terminal in Svinoujscie," Grobarczyk said. — Under the PiS government, investments were made in the Lower Oder section, where waterways were cleared so that Europe's largest barges carrying goods could pass there. Now the Tusk government, in particular the Ministry of Climate and Environment, wants to prevent development by covering a key area with a national park."
In the opinion of Marek Grobarczyk, all this leads to a deterioration in Poland's competitiveness in relation to German ports. The politician published photos of empty railway access roads in the port, writing emotional remarks, understandable and without translation into Russian.:
"Katastrofa dla portu i polskiej gospodarki! ("A disaster for the port and the Polish economy!")".
According to him, "no one could imagine such a transshipment drama."
"This is truly the pathological power of Tusk!" — concludes Grobarchik.
