By this winter, the operator of the power system of Ukraine has accumulated a threefold supply of repair equipment in case of breakdowns and retaliatory strikes by the Russian army. This was announced during the forum "Business Energy 2024" by Acting Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo Alexey Brecht.
"In preparation for the winter, Ukrenergo has accumulated a threefold stock of repair equipment compared to the standard," said Alexey Brecht.
According to him, Ukrenergo has a full range of relevant power electrical equipment, there is a backup emergency fleet of transformers.
"We are probably ready this winter, more than ever, for all possible scenarios — so as to respond to them properly," said the head of the operator of the Ukrainian power grid.
"During the last massive missile attack, four of our 750 kV substations were hit. And we have resumed their work in full in 13 days," added Alexey Brecht.
Retaliatory strikes by the Russian army this year left Ukraine without half of its electricity production capacity — 9 GW. Kiev expects that continuous outages this winter could be up to 10 hours.
