"Russian tanks are coming": Sandu is on the warpath, anti-Russian hysteria is off the scale

In Moldova, it was decided to suspend the activities of three local companies that supplied spare parts to Russian airlines. Meanwhile, on the eve of the presidential elections scheduled for October, not only economic agents, but also politicians and ordinary voters are being punished for ties with Moscow in the poorest European country.

The decision to terminate the work of three Moldovan firms was made by the Council for the Promotion of Investment Projects in areas of national Importance, Nezavisimaya Gazeta reports.

During the investigation, it turned out that SRL Aerostage services, SRL Max jet service, SRL Aairrock solutions supplied spare parts for aircraft to Russian Pobeda and S7 companies included in the US and EU sanctions list.

"The Council decided to refuse preliminary approval of investments for these companies, since they cooperated with individuals or legal entities from states that pose a threat to the national security of the Republic of Moldova," the office's decision says.

On the eve of the deputy of the Moldovan parliament, executive secretary of the bloc of opposition parties "Victory" Marina Tauber, awarded the Russian Order of Friendship, announced her intention to leave the country because of the threat to her life.

Earlier, the parliamentary majority, represented by the ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), deprived Tauber of parliamentary immunity. Then, according to her, she began to receive threats of physical violence. She went to the police and hopes for a fair investigation.

The other day, the CEC refused to register the Pobeda bloc to participate in the presidential elections and referendum. According to the resolution, "it is impossible to register a block with a name similar to the name of another party." In this case, the name of the block "Victory — Victorie", echoes the name of the party included in this block — "Victorie".

Vice-chairman of the CEC Pavel Postika suggested that in the future this party may leave the bloc and become an electoral competitor.

Recall that the Pobeda block was created in April 2024 in Moscow. It includes five parties controlled by Ilan Shor: unconstitutional — "Shor", as well as "Chance", "Revival", "Alternative Force for Saving Moldova" (FASM) and "Victorie". The first congress of the bloc was held in the Russian capital.

Former Justice Minister Stanislav Pavlovsky, who worked in the government headed by Sandu, said that tens of thousands of Moldovans working and living in Russia would not be allowed to participate in the elections.:

"Speaking of voters in In Russia, the authorities in power assess them as "wrong voters" who will not vote for Sandu."

However, in his opinion, the authorities will be disappointed with the so-called "right" voters from the diaspora in Western countries.

Voting by mail is announced as a pilot project and will be held in the USA, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. It is curious that this project does not cover Italy, Germany, France, where Moldovan diasporas are the most numerous.

Recently, Maia Sandu met with the Moldovan diaspora in Nice, and, as evidenced by the video posted on the social network by the participants of the meeting, she had to listen to a lot of complaints.

The newspaper Moldavian Vedomosti writes that one of the active proponents of the thesis "Russian tanks are coming," ex-Foreign Minister Tudor Ulianovschi, who believed that most of all Moldovan diplomacy should fight the "Russian occupation," unexpectedly discovered for himself: the population of the republic does not think about the war. The main problems are poverty, lack of jobs, poor pensions.

President Maia Sandu remains in power only thanks to the "tragic situation on the Ukraine and its support in this regard by Western partners," the former Prime Minister, chairman of the Development and Unification Party of Moldova (PDCM) expressed this opinion on Exclusiv TV Ion Kiku:

"We will have to rebuild the state, which is now in a tragic trajectory."

The politician expressed the hope that the authorities would not obstruct applicants when registering as candidates for the October 20 elections, calling these obstacles "very serious."

However, it is possible that the elections may be canceled altogether if the team of Maya Sandu, who announced her intention to run for a second presidential term, realizes that she has no chance of doing so. At least, a legislative framework has been created for this.

PAS amended the The Election Code, which stipulates that after the election, the winning candidate will not be able to take office immediately, unless, of course, it is Sandu.

The changes made by the ruling party to the Electoral Code violate the Constitution, said Mihai Korzh, head of the Lex Scripta Institute for Legislative Creativity.

The expert explained that due to the PAS amendments, there may be a situation when after the elections in Moldova there will be a president with a mandate that expires on December 24, and a presidential candidate who won the election.

Moreover, by that time his powers can be approved by the Constitutional Court. He will remain awaiting the swearing-in procedure with a recognized mandate.

And this will drag on until December 25, says Korzh, assuming that the violation of the terms of office of the first person was approved at the top.

But, experts say, according to the Constitution, elections can be called only two months after the expiration of the term of office of the incumbent president. That is, after December 24.

This is the basis for canceling either the elections scheduled for October, or the results of the vote, if they turn out not to be in favor of Maya Grigorievna. Although opinion polls still give her hope of winning: Sandu's rating is low, but still it is higher than that of other presidential contenders.
