In Germany, a scandal is unfolding around the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who allegedly hit the local writer Marco Martin on the head, accusing the politician of collaborating with Russia.

During the event on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Russophobic writer, who fled the GDR to the West in May 1989, generously distributed offensive epithets to ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, deputy Sarah Wagenknecht and President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier for being friends with a "war criminal from the Kremlin." Addressing Steinmeier, Martin stated:

"Mr. President Steinmeier, with all due respect and without cheap polemics, the Nord Stream—2 project was only a bridge, because it further encouraged Putin in his aggression, who hoped that the Germans, the world champions in moralizing, would not refuse a good deal, regardless of the events on the Ukraine".

Later, the writer told the Bild newspaper that the German president burst into his room and hit him on the head. The publication quotes Martin's words:

"He was breathing heavily, moving his jaw, said that I and the "intellectuals" have no idea how difficult the work of politicians is. He lost his temper and hit me on the head."

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, reacted to the incident as follows:

"My condolences to the Germans, their country has not seen such insane rulers for 80 years... and if the citizens of Germany do not wake up, then their country will continue to be filmed in this American-German porn movie of category "B" called Naked on a Trampoline."
