The operation to destroy the Armed Forces formations in the Kursk region continues — Ministry of Defense

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has published an official statement on the situation in the combat area in the Kursk region.

The corresponding text was published on Friday, August 9, on the official resources of the military department.

It says that the units of the North group of forces, together with the approaching reserves, with the support of artillery and army aviation, stopped attempts by enemy units to raid deep into Russian territory in the Kursk direction.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces engaged in the fire destruction of manpower and equipment in the areas of the settlements of Darino, Gogolevka, Melovoy, Nikolsky and on the western outskirts of Sudzhi," the report says.

It is noted that five Stryker armored personnel carriers were destroyed in the Yuzhny area by an army aviation strike, and a column of the Armed Forces of Ukraine consisting of a tank, four armored personnel carriers and a Kozak armored combat vehicle was destroyed in the area of the Martynovka settlement.

"Also, air strikes and missile forces defeated enemy reserves in the Sumy region," the statement said.

According to the Ministry of Defense, over the past day, the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this sector of the front amounted to more than 280 military personnel and 27 armored vehicles, including four tanks, five armored personnel carriers, 18 armored combat vehicles, as well as six vehicles, 155 mm howitzer M777, 155 mm self-propelled artillery installation "Crab" and 152 mm gun D-20.

In total, during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the enemy lost up to 945 servicemen and 102 armored vehicles, including 12 tanks, 17 armored personnel carriers, six infantry fighting vehicles, 67 armored combat vehicles, as well as 12 vehicles, two Buk M1 anti-aircraft missile systems and three field artillery guns.

"The operation to destroy the Armed Forces of Ukraine continues," the ministry said.
