The Russian community of Estonia should follow the example of the Jewish community and fight Russophobia as fiercely as it does with anti-Semitism. This was stated by the Estonian public figure antifascist Andrei Zarenkov.
So Zarenkov commented on the message that the Jewish community of Estonia expressed outrage and deep regret over the decision of the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) to cease cooperation with Israeli universities.
"That's who we should take an example from! Bravo! The Estonian Jewish community expressed indignation and deep regret over the decision of the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) to cease cooperation with Israeli universities: "The Estonian Jewish Community calls on all residents of the country to condemn the ESA decision and support the community's statement." And where is the voice of the Russian community when we are deprived of the right to vote, when they abuse us at the border, when they close our schools and fight with our churches and monasteries? Why don't Russians oppose Russophobia as fiercely as Jews fight anti-Semitism?" — Zarenkov writes on his Facebook page❶.
The Estonian Academy of Arts has decided to stop cooperation with Israeli educational institutions in connection with the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, stmegi reports today with reference to the Estonian public broadcasting company.
In particular, the seminar of the professor of the Israeli college "Shenkar" Jonathan Ventura was canceled.
"At the moment it would be wiser to abandon such activities. We have contacted Israeli institutions on this issue, and they have shown understanding. Israeli universities are aware of such sentiments, our decision did not surprise them," said the rector of the academy, Mart Kalm.
Shenkar is the only Israeli educational institution with which the academy has remained connected after the coronavirus pandemic, he noted.
