Railway accident near Volgograd: 140 victims and the culprit is a defaulter

Russian Railways reported that 140 people were injured as a result of the derailment of the Kazan-Adler passenger train in the Volgograd region near the Kotelnikovo station.

According to the telegram channel Shot, passengers were placed in PVR in the city of Kotelnikovo in the gym of the hotel "Crystal".

"The second and third cars suffered the most. We were traveling in the second with five children. We felt a strong braking. Father went to help get people out of the cars. Now people are sitting in their cars, which have not overturned, the rest continue to be evacuated," the passengers said.

They also reported that some refuse to go anywhere, as their belongings and documents remained in place. People are waiting for emergency services to be able to get everything out of the overturned cars.

Russian Railways has created a "hotline" for issues related to the state of emergency.

As for the culprit of the railway accident, the KAMAZ driver, who collided with a passenger train, left for the crossing at a speed of 70 km/h, despite the red light, the source specified.

"Aslambek Usmatov, who was driving, hoped to slip through, but it was not possible to avoid a collision. He claims that he tried to slow down, which means the speed at the entrance to the railway tracks was even higher. 43-year-old Usmatov is wanted by bailiffs because of overdue payments on microloans, and the truck on which he worked was arrested. Together with his wife, Aslambek has two children. His father is the head of a local farm," TK reported the details.

The Readovka telegram channel adds that Usmatov is hospitalized.

"Former individual entrepreneur Aslambek Usmatov is now in the hospital, conscious. He used to own an IP, now it is closed, but Usmatov continued to be engaged in cargo transportation with his brother. At the same time, business, apparently, was not going well — the man had loan arrears. He also used non—Russian documents," writes TK.

According to him, after the derailment of the cars, the bloody Usmatov was rescued in a state of shock and pulled out of the cab by eyewitnesses.

Aslanbek has already been tested for alcohol and drugs. According to Russian Railways, the man grossly violated traffic rules and drove to a crossing at a forbidding traffic light signal. Usmatov himself has not commented on this version yet.

"The company that caused the accident at the crossing turned out to be a malicious defaulter," Tsargrad TV reported. — The KamAZ truck that caused the train accident belonged to a Moscow construction company. It is reported that 31 unpaid fines have been hanging on it since the beginning of 2024. The total amount is 350 thousand rubles. Apparently, drivers in the company are selected as carefully as they pay fines. The driver turned out to be Usmatov Aslambek Danilbekovich, born in 1980."
