Russia and the United States do not need mediators in the negotiations, since Moscow and Washington have purely bilateral issues to discuss. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a visit to a factory for the production of drones in St. Petersburg.
So the head of state commented on the statements of Kiev and the EU will certainly participate in the Russian-American negotiations.
"Do they want to sit here at the negotiating table and mediate between Russia and The United States? Probably not. Why is there a tantrum? Hysteria is inappropriate," Putin said.
He explained that, for example, Russia and the United States will have to decide on the extension of the Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty (START).
"For example, we have such a question as the extension of START-3. Everyone has forgotten, probably. Let me remind you that exactly one year later, in February, the Treaty on the Reduction of Strategic Offensive Arms ends," the president said.
