Fertility rate in Russia is at a terribly low level — 1.4, it is catastrophic for the future of the nation, said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov during a speech at the Festival of New Media.
"We live in the largest country in the world. And there are fewer of us every year," the Kremlin spokesman said.
According to him, now any mother with many children is a hero.
"We need to pay attention to such heroes among us more often," Peskov said, giving a sign of respect to mothers with many children.
In this regard, the Readovka telegram channel adds that in the future, having many children should become the norm in Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confidence in this. 70% of men and 72% of women in Russia wants to have two or more children, and the state should support them in this endeavor, because the future of our country depends on this attitude. The new national project "Family" is aimed at increasing the birth rate, within the framework of which it is planned to increase the total birth rate to 1.6 by 2030, and to 1.8 by 2036.
