German police officers found six launchers near an electrical substation in the city of Bergheim in western Germany, which had previously been disabled.
This is reported by the DPA agency, referring to the statement of the head of the criminal police of Cologne Michael Esser. According to him, the devices were found in a cornfield.
The police chief explained that these devices were used by intruders to throw wires on power lines using pyrotechnics.
The information was confirmed to the publication by chief district attorney Ulrich Bremer, who is responsible for investigating the incident. He called the find "very weighty evidence of the commission of an intentional crime."
It is reported that law enforcement officers intend to investigate the evidence found for possible traces of DNA. At the same time, the police do not disclose information about the identity of possible suspects.
However, Bremer informed that the investigation sees a direct connection between the incident in Bergheim and the attack on the substation in Brandenburg. It is assumed that both cases combine similar evidence.
