Estonia was deprived of the right to hold the European Air Rifle Shooting Championship in 2027. This is reported by local media.
It is reported that the European Shooting Confederation (ESC) made such a decision due to Estonia's refusal to allow Belarusian and Russian athletes to participate in the continental forum. The ESC justified its decision by the fact that the tournament will be qualifying for the Olympic Games — 2028 and the European Games — 2027, and all eligible athletes must be present at the selection. Now the European Championship in air rifle shooting in 2027 will be held in Granada, and not in Tallinn.
Recall that after 2022, many international sports federations decided to ban participation in competitions of athletes from Belarus and Russia. However, over the past year, a number of bans have been lifted. In addition, in May, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended lifting restrictions on Belarusian athletes in individual and team competitions.
