The leaders of the Group of Seven countries at the summit in France agreed to support Ukraine and strengthen sanctions against Russia.
"We are committed to increasing pressure on the Russian military economy. In this context, we will strengthen our sanctions, including against the oil and gas sectors," the G7 said in a statement on geopolitical issues following the meeting in Evian—les-Bains, France.
It is noted that now is the right time to take additional measures against Russia, "since US President Donald Trump has concluded a deal to open the Strait of Hormuz, which we support."
At the same time, the G7 leaders declared "unwavering support for Ukraine."
"We agree to increase the supply of air defense systems, additional systems and interceptors, as well as long—range means," the Group of Seven reported.
The G7 summit is taking place on June 15-17 in Evian-les-Bains, France.
