The tanker of the "shadow fleet" ignored the orders of the Norwegian coast Guard and went into Russian waters. This is reported by the Polish radio station RMF24.

On Monday night, the tanker Apple, suspected of circumventing sanctions, ignored the order of the Norwegian Coast Guard to check and left the exclusive economic zone of Norway, radio reports. It is noted that this incident has caused serious concerns about environmental safety and the effectiveness of new rules aimed at controlling the "shadow fleet".

"The incident occurred in the area of the Northern Cape, where the Norwegian patrol ship KV Andenes was trying to establish contact with the tanker Apple. The vessel under the flag of Equatorial Guinea turned off the AIS transponder, which is why it became invisible in identification systems. Despite repeated attempts ... the vessel did not respond and headed for Russian territorial waters,"the publication says.

Norwegian services suspect that the tanker could have been used to circumvent international sanctions imposed against Russia, RMF24 reports.

It is noted that, according to Norwegian services, the Apple tanker does not have universally recognized insurance, is in poor technical condition. Russia specifically sends such "dubious" vessels on Arctic voyages, hoping that Norway will not risk an environmental disaster that could destroy the country's key fishing resources, according to Stalale Ulriksen from Norwegian Naval Academy. In his opinion, such actions can be described as "environmental blackmail."

As reported by EADaily, London forbade its military to seize tankers of the "shadow fleet" of Russia. This was reported by The Telegraph.

Estonia will not detain vessels of the Russian "shadow fleet" in the Baltic Sea for fear of a military response from Moscow. This was reported by Reuters with reference to the commander of the Estonian Navy Ivo Vark.
