The new supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, is recovering from severe facial and leg injuries. It is reported by the British radio station LBC with reference to Reuters.

The former supreme leader of the country and the father of the current Ali Khamenei was killed in an airstrike on a residence in Tehran at the beginning of the US-Israeli war with Iran. Since then, speculation has continued about whether Mojtaba Khamenei survived the attack or was seriously injured, the radio reports. Since taking office, the 56-year-old successor of Ali Khamenei has not appeared in public and has made only written statements.

Reuters, citing three sources close to Mojtaba Khamenei's entourage, reports that he is now recovering from severe injuries to his face and one or both legs.

"Three sources reported that his face was disfigured during the impact, but added that he retains mental clarity during the recovery period. They said that he participates in meetings with high-ranking officials via audio conferencing and continues to make important decisions, including those related to peace negotiations," LBC reports.

It is noted that these statements have not been independently confirmed, but generally coincide with the statements of the head of the US Department of Defense, Pete Hegseth, that Khamenei is "wounded and probably disfigured." A U.S. intelligence official also told Reuters that Khamenei is believed to have lost a leg.

As reported by EADaily, there is nothing surprising in the fact that the new supreme leader of Iran has not yet appeared in public. This was stated in the Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips program by the former head of the British MI-6, John Scarlett.

"It is not at all surprising" that Mojtaba Khamenei has not yet spoken publicly, Scarlett said. According to him, there are two reasons for this — injury and mourning for the family.

As EADaily reported, the new supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khomenei, was injured, but the US authorities do not know exactly how seriously. This was stated to CBS News by Vice President JD Vance, according to the British The Guardian.

Recall, the new supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, may be in a coma. This was reported by The Sun newspaper, citing sources.

According to sources, the 56-year-old son of Ali Khamenei, who died during the attack on Tehran, was seriously injured. It is alleged that he lost at least one leg and suffered serious damage to his stomach or liver. It is not yet clear when Mojtaba Khamenei was wounded — possibly on February 28, the same day his 86-year-old father died.
