A high-ranking American admiral has publicly admitted that Washington made the wrong choice in the development of the surface fleet. According to the TWZ publication, the head of the US Naval Operations Directorate, Daryl Codle, confirmed that the abandonment of nuclear power plants on surface ships was one of the biggest mistakes.
The admiral's words were heard at a hearing in the Armed Services Committee of the House of Representatives, where the fleet budget for 2027 was discussed. Kodl stressed that the abandonment of nuclear power plants occurred several decades ago, and since then the navy has been paying for this decision.
Now, according to the military commander, the United States is returning to the old concept. Promising Trump-class ships will again receive nuclear reactors.
"It was one of the biggest mistakes the Navy has ever made," Codl summed up, acknowledging that the strategy needed urgent adjustment.
