Something unthinkable: the Austrian Air Force raised fighter jets to intercept US aircraft

In recent days, the Austrian Air Force has twice raised fighter jets to intercept American PC-12 reconnaissance aircraft that were in the country's airspace without the necessary permits. This is reported by the European media.

It is reported that the first incident occurred on Sunday, when two American aircraft were over the Totes-Gebirge mountain range in Upper Austria without the necessary permission. On Monday, the authorities again raised Eurofighter fighters to intercept two US Air Force aircraft. At the same time, after that, the American planes turned around and returned to Munich. However, it is still unclear whether the planes crossed Austrian airspace on Monday without permission to fly.

Recall that Austria is a neutral state. She pledged not to join military alliances in accordance with the Neutrality Act of 1955. Therefore, the presence of foreign troops in Austria is also prohibited.
