The Serbian airline Air Serbia has resumed flights in the airspace of Belarus. This was announced by the head of the Brest branch of the State Enterprise "Belaeronavigation" Alexander Dokuchits.
"The fact that Serbian aircraft appeared in our airspace is an extremely positive moment, we are pleased to note this positive change and are confident that the right decisions will be made not only in Serbia, but also in other countries to resume active navigation in our skies," he said.
According to him, in 2025 Brest airport served more than 46 thousand passengers, which is more than in 2019.
"I note the prospects, when we see the trace of the plane, it causes only positive emotions. The sky is coming to life, Brest Airport is coming to life and is being modernized, we are improving the appearance of the building for the second year. There will be a new gallery for domestic flights, the opening will be the starting point for the further transformation of our building," added Dokuchits.
It should be recalled that since 2021, the European Union has imposed a ban on flights over Belarus for its carriers, and also banned Belarusian airlines from flying over its territory. Despite the fact that the Serbian carrier Air Serbia was not formally subject to EU restrictions, it then also changed routes. However, since March 2026, it has started flying through the airspace of Belarus again on the Belgrade — Moscow — Belgrade route. The new route allows you to shorten the journey by about 100-150 km, save about 10 minutes of flight time and reduce navigation costs.
