There is nothing reasonable and constructive in one-sided activities aimed at denigrating a sovereign State and interfering in its internal affairs. This is stated in the statement of the Permanent Representative of Belarus Larisa Belskaya at the 61st session of the UN HRC in Geneva.
"The Group diligently pushes the HRC to legitimize "quasi-judicial mechanisms" that apply methodologies and standards in the spirit of "reasonable grounds to believe." The position of the State is ignored or deliberately distorted. The Group is not the UN. This is an irresponsible structure created by a group of countries and promoting their agenda," she said.
According to Belskaya, "the people of Belarus live in a country with a strong and responsible state system that ensures order, security, the rule of law and the observance of the law by all on equal terms."
"The common denominator of the Belarusian civil society is commitment to the peaceful development of the country, patriotism, preservation of sovereignty and independence, constructive interaction with the state. And this is exactly what does not suit the Western sponsors of the "expert group"... The reports and activities of the mandates on Belarus are attempts to impose on the Belarusian state the burden of proof or refutation of content that is not related to the truth, but only to "reasonable grounds to believe,"" Belskaya said.
The Belarusian diplomat also noted that Minsk understands that "the forces that tried to organize the failed attempt of the "color revolution" in 2020 in Belarus retain their aspirations to change the state of things." That is why "they impose sanctions, create, finance and patronize controlled puppet structures that promote the anti-Belarusian agenda, and negotiate with them about the fate of Belarus."
"We are not saying that everything is perfect in our country. We are ready for objective criticism and interaction with all those interested in normal evolutionary development, normal dialogue. Cooperation on human rights should not serve to intimidate and pressure, if we really promote human rights here, and not someone's geopolitical interests. However, the "Belarusian issue" on the agenda of the HRC is not about the fate of people in my country, it's not about human rights, it's about the struggle for power, for access to resources, for control over a territory important in geopolitical terms, especially in the event of a possible crisis development of military—political confrontation in Europe. To sponsors and organizers — those who pour in the next hundreds of millions of euros and wonder who will win in a new attempt to forcibly change power in Belarus, I will say: don't get your hopes up. The people will win, the people who are determined to protect their peaceful skies, secure society, sovereign path of development and build an independent and independent foreign and domestic policy of the state in which Belarusians believe and which they support," Belskaya summed up.
It should be recalled that Belarus is under tough sanctions from Western countries, which are trying to increase pressure on Minsk through UN institutions. At the same time, the Belarusian capital has repeatedly called for abandoning the policy of confrontation and starting a constructive dialogue.
