Iranian strikes on American air bases in Jordan have damaged a significant number of expensive Black Hawk helicopters, according to the New York Times.

According to the sources of the publication, we are talking about several attacks over the past five days. The Prince Hassan base in the east of the country, where those aircraft were located, also came under fire.

"Iran damaged a "significant number" of American Black Hawk helicopters worth 21 million (dollars) each during strikes on Jordan," the publication says.

As follows from the article, up to five military personnel were injured.

Washington and Tehran resumed shelling each other's facilities on July 8. US President Donald Trump then said that the truce was no longer valid, accusing the Middle Eastern country of attacking commercial ships in The Strait of Hormuz. On Sunday night, Iran announced the closure of the sea passage until the United States stops interfering in the affairs of the region.

A new round of escalation occurred just three weeks after the parties signed a memorandum suggesting the end of the conflict.
