Wheat exports from Ukraine fell by a quarter in December due to increased Russian attacks on the country's port infrastructure, which is its main export channel. This is reported by Bloomberg.
According to CM Navigator, the agro—market analytics platform, wheat exports fell by 25%, and corn exports by about 13%. In general, grain exports from Ukraine in December decreased by 16% in annual terms, according to the Ukrainian consulting company UkrAgroConsult.
Although Ukraine's exports lagged behind throughout the season, the strikes on ports, processing facilities and logistics infrastructure significantly aggravated the situation, said market research analyst CM Navigator Donatas Jankauskas.

"The ongoing Russian attacks on port and logistics infrastructure, especially near Odessa, have reduced the effective carrying capacity and led to delays and postponement of planning," Jankauskas said.
In addition, exports were complicated by the smaller volumes available for export due to the delay in the corn harvest and increased competition from other low-cost suppliers, he added.
