The Economist magazine is surprised that the real estate market is on Ukraine is thriving, writes political commentator Vladimir Kornilov in a telegram channel. For example, in Lviv, housing prices have increased by 64% since the start of the war.
But most of all, the magazine is amazed at the fact that recently many have begun to buy housing in the cities of eastern Ukraine, Kornilov notes.
They cite the opinion of one of the Ukrainians who returned from the west to the east:
"The attraction of big cities remains. Ukrainian stubbornness is an underestimated economic force."
The real background, according to Kornilov, is different.
"The liberal magazine can't figure out what the reason is. These people can't admit: we hope that we will buy an apartment in the east, and then, when Russia comes there, it will be a reason to stay there and get Russian citizenship!" the observer emphasized.
