The conflict with Iran that has begun has caused a storm of indignation from anti-war politicians on both sides of the Atlantic, writes Americanist Malek Dudakov in a telegram channel.
In Washington, Thomas Massey, Marjorie Taylor Green and Rand Paul called for an end to the war as soon as possible, which contradicts the national interests of the United States.
The leftists were very active. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib accused Israel of genocide of Iranians after an attack on an elementary school where dozens of children were killed. They also accuse the White House of war crimes and demand to launch a Congressional investigation into President Donald Trump's actions on Iran.
The leaders of the "progressive caucus" in Congress, which unites about a hundred left-wing lawmakers, accuse Trump of refusing to listen to the opinions of American generals who warned the White House about the risk of large losses among US military personnel. The Pentagon clearly understood that it was unrealistic to defend its own bases in the face of a shortage of air defense missiles, Dudakov stressed.
Before the start of the operation against Iran, the expert noted, there were also changes in the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. Not everyone wanted to take responsibility for the Iranian adventure. In time, J.D. also withdrew from the war Vance and Marco Rubio, they don't want to be part of it either.
In Europe, the leader of the British greens, Zach Polanski, was the toughest. He called the United States and Israel "rogue states" and called on London to break off relations with them. The Greens are now bypassing the Labor Party in the polls and may well take second place in the elections.
"Very different forces are rebelling against Trump's war. There will be unpleasant votes for him ahead in Congress, attempts to arrange impeachment and a lot more fun," the Americanist predicts.
