The 32-year-old rapper with Latvian citizenship Markul (Mark Markulis), who condemned the special military operation, received Russian citizenship. This is reported by the Shot telegram channel.

Immediately after the start of the special operation, Markul wrote on social networks that there would never be people in his environment who could justify what was happening, and flew to London. However, he continued to earn actively in In Russia, releasing joint tracks with Russian artists, as well as touring the country.

Already in February 2024, the singer received Russian citizenship, according to the publication. However, by doing so he violated the law of his native Latvia: It is forbidden to get a Russian passport as a second passport there. Punishment — forced deprivation of the first citizenship.

Markul was born in Riga, then his family moved to Khabarovsk. Later they moved to London, where the musician studied at school. The rapper recorded the first tracks together with Oxxxymiron (Miron Fedorov). In open sources, Markul is listed as a Russian rapper.
