Giant masks of operatic geniuses of Italy at the opening of the Olympics immediately became a meme

The opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, which has not even ended yet, is already being actively discussed on social networks. User interest was attracted by that part of the show when giant masks of famous Italian composers took the stage.

The second part of the shock was devoted to the Italian musical heritage, where the main role was played by the themes of three great Italian opera composers — Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901), Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924) and Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868). Their created musical themes in modern arrangements were used as accompaniment to their dances and video sequences.

Social networks compare Italian geniuses with traditional mascots — caricatures of former US presidents, which can be seen at the matches of the Washington Nationals baseball team (USA). Usually, the presidential masks race across the field during breaks during the match.

Many spectators of the opening ceremony of the Olympics called the giant masks the highlight of the show.

However, a number of viewers did not like this creative move of the creators of the show at all.

As EADaily reported, the official opening ceremony of the XXV Winter Olympic Games takes place on February 6 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, the closing ceremony will take place at the historic Arena di Verona on February 22.

The Olympiad will be attended by 13 Russian athletes who will compete in a neutral status.
